Why do we write so much about Zillow?
There are a lot of misconceptions about Zillow’s Zestimates — in both the real estate community and amongst consumers. Bottom line: at the end of the day, Zillow’s Zestimates are just that, estimates (there’s a reason the two words rhyme!). They use their proprietary algorithm to estimate home values, mainly based on data they receive from MLSs (Multiple Listing Services) and other public sources (i.e., city and county public tax records). Then they ESTIMATE the value. But there’s so much more to know before you take the Zestimate as gospel.
