WOODSTOCK is a city in southern Cherokee County with a population of 23,896 at the 2010 census. The city of 11.3 square miles is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and was originally a stop on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Woodstock lies 30 miles north of Atlanta, and in 2007, it was the tenth fastest-growing suburb in the United States. On July 28, 2014, Atlanta’s WSB-TV Channel 2 reported that Movoto Real Estate, a real estate blog, had compiled a list of the top 10 safest places in Georgia, using the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report; Woodstock was ranked at #9 using the official data.
