Water Service For Your New Home
Water and sewer service in Georgia for single-family homes is, in Georgia, in most cases, is run by the county or the city in which the home is located, you will need to wait until after you own the home (meaning, after closing) to transfer the water into your name. For this reason, we ask that the seller leave the water service in their name for two business days after closing. We recommend that transferring water service immediately after closing (or immediately the following morning, if your closing is late afternoon). Most counties will allow you to upload your application and proof of closing/your closing statement via email or online -- we will not only remind you of this closer to closing, but also make sure you have all of the correct information for your water service transfer.

COUNTIES
Cherokee County: information can be found here. A deposit is required (can be called in) the day before service is to begin.
Cobb County: information can be found here. You can apply online here. NOTE: there is also a senior citizens' discount program, and the affidavit is here.

PLEASE NOTE: Dekalb County requires plumbing be "low-flow" and has certain requirements; we will have already discussed this with you.
Forsyth County: you can apply online here.

Hall County: Hall County does not provide water/sewer services. Please see below for your city or visit the Hall County FAQ page for more information.
