As you may know, you can claim your home on Zillow, which a great tool to make sure that your home details are accurate and up-to-date. And even though Zillow’s Zestimates are far from accurate in most cases, claiming your home is a way to ensure that you’ve done everything you can do to help ensure accuracy for your personal home.
Similarly now, on REALTOR.com, you can “track” your home (basically the same concept as placing your “claim” on Zillow), in just a few easy steps.
Go to REALTOR.com and type in your home’s address into the search bar.
Your home address will come up and when you click on it, there will be an option to “track your home.”
You’ll then be asked to identify which kind of homeowner you are from three choices — choose the one that best fits.
Next, you’ll be asked to create an account. If you don’t create an account, you won’t be able to accurately track your home; in other words, you won’t be able to input home information and the other details that the system needs to update your home and to associate you with it.
Finally, once you’ve completed the process, you will be able to edit your home details, as well as mortgage and financial information*, to track your home’s value, equity, and other data. According to REALTOR.com, the information you input is not shared. “We do not share this information with anyone. This data is collected solely to assist you in getting the most out of MyHome.”
Why You Should Track Your Home on REALTOR.com
While REALTOR.com doesn’t estimate a home’s valuation when it’s on the market, the way Zillow does with its Zestimates (which appear on every listing whether they are on the market or not), REALTOR.com does give an estimated home value in the MyHome platform (which is the platform utilized when you Track Your Home). Updating your home’s details can help ensure that the home value estimate on the site is as close as it can be to accurate. Of course, for an accurate look at your home’s value, as well as how it compares to other homes on the market and comparable homes that have sold, contact us and we’d be happy to provide a customized market analysis for your home.
*We at Buy Sell Live Atlanta are not advising that you enter sensitive personal financial information into any website; we are just highlighting the options that REALTOR.com is giving to consumers on the “track your home” platform.
