Step 15 To Selling a Home: We Couldn’t Come to An Agreement With the Buyer
Every offer doesn't turn into a contract. Unfortunately, sometimes we aren’t able to come to an agreement with the buyer. I tell my sellers the same thing I tell my buyers: in real estate, I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. If a negotiation is very problematic and fraught with tension from the very beginning or if a buyer is extremely unrealistic and expects the moon and the stars be delivered to him on a silver platter, just think how the rest of the transaction might go! We have dozens and dozens of stories of low investor-type offers at the start of a listing that didn't go any further...and then the home goes on to sell for full price a week or two later. It happens! (The first offer isn't necessarily going to be the best offer!)
If it happens to you, we know it’s disappointing, but the best thing we can do is move on quickly and look forward. We’ll continue with showings and our marketing. And offers are not public record, so the only ones who will know that you had an offer that didn't work out is you and us.
Keep your chin up. We’ll find the right buyer.
