Smyrna is a city northwest of the neighborhoods of Atlanta which occupies 15.4 square miles. It is located just outside “the perimeter” – interstate 285. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 51,271. Smyrna grew by 28% between the years 2000 and 2012. It is historically one of the fastest growing cities in the State of Georgia, and one of the most densely populated cities in the metro area.
Smyrna is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, located about 1 mile northwest of the Atlanta city limits, and with Smyrna’s downtown about 10 miles from downtown Atlanta. Smyrna is located just west of the northern intersection of I-285 and I-75, which is the site of Cumberland and the Cobb Galleria. Smyrna is also near Vinings, Marietta, Mableton, Sandy Springs and the Buckhead district of Atlanta.
