IKEA is Coming (again)!

The Swedish mega-store plans to open a location in Marietta, along Interstate 75. The City of Marietta has announced that the new location will be part of the larger redevelopment efforts along Franklin Road.

The Franklin Gateway District will have major investment by Atlanta United when it builds its headquarters and a training facility on 33 acres that formerly were home to some very old and rundown apartments.

IKEA will build on a 34-acre site on the west side of the interstate. The new location is just 12 miles north of the IKE located at Atlantic Station, which opened as the first IKEA in the Southeast I 2005. The new store will have more than 300,000 square feet.

Construction is expected to begin in 2018; no plans have been announced for the projected opening.
