Georgia Homestead Exemption

Just a friendly reminder to you to file for Homestead Exemption, if you have not done so already. According to Georgia law, if you purchased your home between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, and you occupy that home as your primary residence, you may be eligible to claim Homestead Exemption, which will drastically reduce your property taxes. See below for county-by-county contact information and deadlines for filing Homestead Exemption. If you purchased your home with Buy Sell Live Atlanta and have NOT already received a copy of your signed Settlement Statement from your closing, please let us know and we’ll send you one. If you did not work with us to buy your home, you will need to contact your REALTOR® to obtain a copy of your Settlement Statement, which you may need in order to file for your Homestead Exemption. Be sure to confirm eligibility and requirements with your county of residence.

Please note that the phone numbers, addresses, and dates on the following page were verified as of December 2016. The locations and dates are subject to change without prior notification to our office. Please be sure to contact your county for thorough information and requirements.

As always, if you have any questions about your Homestead Exemption, your home, or need any other real estate assistance, please call us at 404.919.5565 or email Maura@BuySellLiveAtlanta.com.
