EAST COBB, located in Cobb County, is an unincorporated community in the northern suburbs of Atlanta with a population of 169,000 according to the 2010 census. The area includes several small communities, many established early in the area’s post-Cherokee history, including Mount Bethel, Shallowford Falls, Sandy Plains, Noonday, Blackwells, and Westoak. In the 1960s; the “city” of Chattahoochee Plantation, which never had a city government, was established and then officially abolished in 1995 along with dozens of other Georgia towns with defunct or non-existent governments.
Merchant’s Walk serves as the unofficial town center of East Cobb and consists of retailers, restaurants, and a movie theater. Merchant’s Walk is located at the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road, connecting East Cobb to neighboring Sandy Springs, and Roswell Road; it was first developed in 1978 and renovated in 2011.
